High Burnside was once a hunting lodge built for Lord Drew in the 1620’s . As well as its glorious position, the property sits in a beautiful country garden with several acres of paddocks and surrounding woodland.

For those who enjoy the countryside there are interesting walks with numerous wildlife and an abundance of wild birds. Additionally the RSPB centre at Lochwinnoch is a mere 3 miles away.

The location of High Burnside is an ideal base travel wise – Glasgow airport 10 minutes, Prestwick airport 30 minutes and easy access to roads going north to Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and Rob Roy country; south to beautiful Ayrshire, the Galloway Forest and the stunning coastal towns of Ayr, Troon and Largs with ferries to the Islands and attractions such as Kelburn Castle.
Local to Howwood are some 30 golf courses, sailing on the Clyde as well as a water sports center some 3 miles away. Glasgow itself offers much in the way of historical and architectural beauty, as does Edinburgh 45minutes away by train from the city centre. There are famous Museums, Art Galleries, Parks, Botanical Gardens, Concert Hall and the SECC as well as numerous Restaurants and Bars. Shopping is relaxed and stylish in a modern environment with many arcades, malls and designer outlets.

The Burrell Collection:-

The collection of some 9000 works of art was gifted to the City of Glasgow in 1944 by the Burrell family. The collection was opened to the public in 1983 established in an award winning building set within the Pollock Estate.

Kelburn Country Centre

The family home of the Earls of Glasgow, Kelburn has long been an inspiration for adults and a paradise for children. The castle, dating back to the 13th century, still lived in by the present Earl and family, is open to the public in July and August and provides an impressive background to exotic gardens, famous trees and many features of historical interest. The Kelburn Glen with its waterfalls and deep gorges is regarded as one of Scotland's most beautiful woodlands and leads to spectacular views over the islands of the Firth of Clyde. Culzean Castle & Country Park:-

Like a storybook castle, this fantastic example of Robert Adam's genius stands dramatically on a cliff with superb views across the sea to the mountains of the Island of Arran. Between 1777 and 1792 Adam converted an old fortified tower castle for David Kennedy, the 10th Earl of Cassillis, creating at Culzean (pronounced "Cullane") probably the finest Georgian castle in Scotland. Dalgarven Mill:- Country Life Museum
The three storey grain store has been converted to house an extensive collection of Ayrshire farming and domestic memorabilia, reflecting the self sufficiency of the pre-industrial rural community that was Dalgarven. An ever- examples of Ayrshire Whitework. On the top floor, an exhibit lets the visitor compare the 1880 lifestyle of the mill-owner, as you wander through his recreated house.
